The Call for Proposals for NAFEW 2026 is closed.
Oral Presentations
The Call for Poster Presentations is closed. Submissions for oral and poster presentations are under review, and communication regarding notifications will be sent by February 18. If you have a presentation that is part of an accepted special session and still need to submit your abstract, please email office@fireecology.net.
Oral presentations will be scheduled in concurrent session blocks on June 23, 24, and 25. Five presentations will be grouped by topic in a 100-minute time block. Each presenter will have 20 minutes total, which includes 15 minutes for the presentation, 3 minutes for audience questions, and 2 minutes to transition to the next speaker. Accepted presenters are required to pay the registration fee to attend the event.
Individuals may submit more than one abstract. However, if we reach capacity for oral presentations, abstracts that are part of special sessions will have priority and we may need to ask presenters with multiple to talks to convert one into a poster.
**Presenters that are part of a special session will also submit their abstract using the oral presentation submission form. Your session organizer will review your proposal, plan the agenda and format, and be able to answer questions regarding your session.
Poster Presentations
The Call for Poster Presentations is closed. Submissions for oral and poster presentations are under review, and communication regarding notifications will be sent by February 18.
Poster presentations are a graphic representation of your work, which include photos, figures, graphs, and clear and concise text. Poster presenters will share their poster on Tuesday, June 23 during the poster session, where they can interact with attendees and respond to questions. Each presenter will be assigned to a 48 inch x 48 inch space on a poster board, and poster orientation can be portrait or landscape. Your poster must fit within your allotted space, so we can display two posters side-by-side on 4 foot by 8 foot display board. Accepted presenters are required to pay the registration fee to attend the event.
Special Sessions and Workshops
The Call for Special Sessions and Workshops is closed. All organizers have been contacted regarding acceptance.
An Organized Special Session is a series of integrated presentations that address aspects of a single topic or theme. Special sessions are an important component of the workshop and an exciting opportunity to dive deeper into a topic of interest. Special sessions can include presentations, panels, discussions, and Q&A. Special sessions will run concurrent with contributed sessions and can include one or two time blocks of 100 minutes each that includes five 20-minute timeslots. Timeslots can be used for presentations, panel discussions, or Q&A, but must adhere to the 20-minute timing.
Workshops are flexible sessions that provide an opportunity for organizers to: 1) provide training on a specific skill; 2) facilitate a group discussion around a specific topic that could include activities such as synthesizing research results or discussing future collaborative ideas, and which could result in a collaborative paper, management guidelines, or other product; or 3) lead other activities requiring schedule flexibility, such as assembling a larger group of short flash talks on a related theme. Workshops will also run concurrently to other sessions and can include one or two time blocks of 100 minutes each but do not need to adhere to the 20-minute timing within the 100-minute block. Proposals that combine a special session and workshop are welcome (e.g., a special session of presentations followed by a linked synthesis discussion).
